I found my athleticism in high school by trying out for track and field and discovered quickly I was great at sprinting and jumping. Over my high school career, I spent each year training and eventually making it to OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association) in my grade 12 year for sprint hurdles and triple jump. That experience sparked my competitiveness and hunger to be the best version of myself. Fast forward about 12 years, and 1 child later, I found CrossFit. It fueled my confidence and started exploring other forms of fitness. It transformed me in more ways than just how I looked and was determined to share my passion with others by coaching.
6 months into CrossFit and I thought to myself ‘I would love to be a coach one day to be able to motivate and encourage others on their journey.’ I have been a personal trainer and kickboxing coach for the past 6 years. Now that I am actively pursuing a career in law enforcement, staying healthy and fit isn’t just a hobby, it’s a commitment to myself and my success and survival.
I chose to coach because I know how hard it is sometimes to just get to the gym. Sometimes just showing up is the biggest victory and having someone there to encourage, cry, laugh, and celebrate with you makes all the difference. Your CrossFit gym is not just a gym, it’s a family, a network of people all supporting you and you supporting them. It’s amazing to be a part of it.
